News on North Finchley

In a relatively short period of time, we have gathered an extensive amount of information. This has been through our conversations with the community, alongside our own analysis and research of the area. This ‘Place Discovery’ document aims to capture our early findings and to report these back to the community and other stakeholders. Our early work has helped us to crystallise some initial thoughts and ideas for the next phases ahead as we look to prepare our wider proposals.

It has been said recently by others that Barnet has amazing community groups, volunteers, and faith and charity organisations, which are the foundation and heart of the borough. We wholeheartedly agree with this statement and we are thankful to the community for getting involved with our early work. We can now say that we have a much better understanding of North Finchley as a place.

We have tried to capture in this report the constraints and opportunities that exist, alongside the aspirations of the community. This stage of work was the first of many opportunities for the community to share views and we will engage with and involve local people to ensure that wherever possible local concerns and aspirations help to shape the emerging development options.

As we digest the information gathered to date, we will be announcing further events over the coming months.
